Unknown Church – Now Identified

We have had a request from Chris to see if anyone can recognise the church in the background of this picture. It is thought the image dates from the 1950’s and there is some major work on the tower. The tower also has some unusual X shaped tracery in the windows. Of  course this may not be a ‘Leicestershire’ church but the lady was from Leicester and any ideas would be most welcome.

  1. I’ve identified that church tower as St Mary Magdalen’s, Sandringham, Norfolk; the scaffolding in the photo must have been there for when the clock and the top of the tower were undergoing restoration. Many thanks for posting my query – as it’s not a Leics church after all, you can remove it now that the mystery is solved, if you wish!
